A Rigorous, Supportive Education for Every Student.
From kindergarten through 8th grade, AJHAE provides a challenging and nurturing academic environment where every student is known, supported, and prepared to succeed.
High Expectations. Whole-Child Support.
At AJHAE, we believe every child is capable of achieving at high levels when given the right support, instruction, and encouragement. Our teachers know their students as individuals and use that knowledge to provide the instruction each child needs to grow.
We are committed to preparing every AJHAE student — not just academically, but as confident, curious learners ready for high school and beyond.
High Expectations for All
We hold every student to high academic standards and provide the scaffolding and support needed to meet them.
Student-Centered Instruction
Our teachers differentiate instruction to meet students where they are and move them toward mastery.
Data-Informed Teaching
We use ongoing assessment and progress monitoring to guide instruction and ensure every student is growing.
Whole-Child Focus
Academic success is connected to social-emotional well-being. We support the whole child, every day.
Grades K–5: Building Strong Foundations
Our elementary program builds the essential academic and social foundations students will carry throughout their education. Students develop literacy, numeracy, and a love of learning in a warm, structured environment — progressing from foundational skills in the early grades to deeper comprehension, writing, and reasoning as they move toward middle school.
Core Subject Areas
Foundational reading, phonics, writing, grammar, and comprehension through structured literacy instruction.
Number sense, operations, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning through hands-on and conceptual approaches.
Inquiry-based exploration of the natural world and foundational concepts in life, earth, and physical science.
Community, history, geography, and civic understanding through age-appropriate, engaging content.
Additional learning opportunities that broaden student interests and support whole-child development.
Grades 6–8: Preparing for High School & Beyond
Our middle school program challenges students to think critically, work collaboratively, and take greater ownership of their learning. Students engage with more complex content across all subject areas while developing the academic skills, study habits, and self-advocacy they will need in high school.
Our teachers and staff support students through this transition — academically, socially, and emotionally — so that every 8th grader leaves AJHAE confident and prepared for what comes next.
Core Subject Areas
Advanced reading, analytical writing, literary analysis, research skills, and oral communication.
Pre-algebra, algebra, and advanced mathematical reasoning with a focus on problem-solving and real-world application.
Life science, earth science, and physical science through inquiry, lab work, and critical thinking.
World history, U.S. history, civics, and geography with an emphasis on critical analysis and civic engagement.
Additional courses and enrichment opportunities designed to broaden student interests and skills.
